Parking
Cars can be parked on the blue lines in the streets in the vicinity of the archaeological area, which is in the centre of Desenzano and close to the lake. There is one parking space reserved for people with permits for citizens with disability in via Crocefisso (50 metres away).

Entry is free of charge for persons with disabilities and those accompanying them.

Entrance
The entrance to Villa Romana has a double panelled door (each panel 54 cm wide), 2 consecutive steps (h14 cm) and a single panelled door (85 cm wide). Access to the archaeological area is by a single panelled door (90 cm wide) and step (h 2 cm). People with motor disabilities can enter the archaeological area through the exhibit from the exhibition area by means of a single panelled door (92 cm wide). The paved route is on a slight slope.

Reception
The antiquarium contains:

  • the information point (counter height 104 cm)
  • the ticket office (counter height 104 cm).

The museum staff are able to provide information and assistance.

Exhibition layout
The exhibition layout is in the antiquarium and in the area outside the villa. The antiquarium has three exhibition rooms which contain the most important objects found in the villa. The rooms have touch screen panels (h 140 cm, with commentary in Italian, English, French and German), and information panels in Braille.

The outside exhibition area is divided into 4 sectors. Sector A was originally used as an entertainment area for the guests of the villa and residence. Sector B was mainly residential and sectors C and D were spa and residential areas.
The visit to the excavations has ramp and slide connections (gradients from 7% to 18%) and wooden passageways (100 cm wide).

Direction signs
The direction signs in the building are written in large, clearly visible characters (at least 7 cm).

Bathroom facilities
The bathroom is on the ground floor, near the antiquarium, and is reached by means of an outside step (h 17 cm) and single panelled door (67 cm wide). It has the following specifications:

  • bathroom with 60 cm hinged door
  • suspended washbasin (space in front 120 cm)
  • floor-standing WC (space in front 110 cm, 23 cm to the right and 23 cm to the left)
  • clearly visible bathroom symbols at eye height, with medium to large characters.

 Emergency exits
The emergency routes are marked and there is an acoustic alarm.
