The visitors' car park, located 20 metres from the entrance, has 13 spaces, one of which is reserved for disabled pass holders.

Information for visitors
Entry free of charge for persons with disabilities and those accompanying them.
A panel on the outside, which includes texts in Braille, describes the history of the villa. Guided tours in Italian and English are organised.

Entrance
The Manzoni Museum, which is housed in the parental home of Alessandro Manzoni, is in Rione del Caleotto, not far from Lecco town centre.
The main entrance has a wide gate (290 cm) which leads to the Cortile dei Rustici. Cross the 10 metre courtyard (cobbled surface), go up the step (h 2,5 cm), and a double panelled door (87 cm and 92 cm) leads to the entrance hall of the museum.

Reception
The entrance hall contains:

  • the information point (counter height 72 cm)
  • the ticket office (counter height 72 cm).

The museum staff are able to provide information and assistance.

Exhibition layout  
Villa Manzoni houses the Manzoni Museum, Municipal Art Gallery, Chapel of the Assunta, the cellars and the ice house.
The Manzoni Museum on the ground floor has 10 rooms, containing manuscripts and other mementoes on the life and works of Alessandro Manzoni. The exhibition area begins in the former household supplies area (entrance 92 cm wide). A 91 cm opening and ramp (gradient 6%, 93 cm wide) lead to room II, containing a model (h 80 cm) of the villa and its surroundings. Room IV is reached by means of 2 steps (h 12 cm) and an opening (111 cm). Access to room VI (the red room) is by a step (h 5 cm) and opening (100 cm). The museum exit, at room X, has a step (h 5 cm) and double panelled manual door (each panel 53 cm wide).

The Municipal Art Gallery on the first floor of the villa is reached by two flights of stairs (17 and 14 steps, h 15 cm, with handrail on the right). The entrance has a single panelled door (117 cm wide). The exhibition area consists of 7 rooms, with doors at least 95 cm wide. Rooms IV and V are linked by 2 steps (h 10 cm).
The Cortile dei Nobili (Courtyard of the Nobles) contains the Chapel of Assunta, which houses the remains of the writer's father (2 steps 20 cm in height and a double panelled door, each panel 41 cm wide). The altar has one step (h 15 cm).

The cellars and ice house are reached from the Cortile dei Rustici, by means of a double panelled wooden door (each panel 99 cm wide) and two flights of stairs (11 and 10 steps, h 18 cm).

Direction signs
The direction signs in the building are written in large, clearly visible characters (at least 7 cm).

Bathroom facilities
The equipped toilet is situated in the Cortile dei Rustici. It has an outside step (h 9 cm) and its specifications are as follows:

  • anteroom with 70 cm hinged door
  • suspended washbasin (space in front 100 cm)
  • bathroom with 70 cm hinged door
  • floor-standing WC (space in front 112 cm, 60 cm to the right and 55 cm to the left, horizontal handles on both sides of the WC)
  • clearly visible bathroom symbols at eye height, with medium to large characters.

Emergency exits
The emergency routes are marked and there is a visual and acoustic alarm.
