How to get there by public transport
Anfo is connected to Brescia by Arriva buses (lines LN013 and S202). For information: Arriva website https://www.arriva.it/ The bus stop is about 250 meters from the ticket office of the fortress located in Via Calcaterra 6, the pedestrian path is on sloping roads, the first stretch of 40 meters along the highway is unprotected and has no sidewalk.

Anfo can be reached by boat from Navigazione Lago d'Idro, which connects the towns overlooking the lake. The service is designed for the transport of passengers with reduced mobility. For information: https://www.vallesabbia.info/product/battello-lago-didro/

The fortress offers two alternative routes of visit: full visit (4 hours) and short visit (2 hours and a half). The "full tour" starts from the ticket office in Via Calcaterra 6 at the municipal library; you can park freely on the surrounding streets. The "short visit" starts from the Museum of the Fortress, located outside the town along State Road 237; it is possible to park along the road in front of the Fortress.

Information for visitors
The spaces of the fortress are very extensive and articulated and can not be visited independently by tourists.  The visits, always accompanied by qualified guides, are usually by reservation; in July and August guided tours are organized on fixed days and times that do not require reservation.

For people with disabilities and reduced mobility, individuals or groups, it is strongly recommended to contact the fortress in advance, to set out their specific needs and agree in advance on a route suitable for their needs.

The fortress climbs on the slopes of a hill overlooking the lake, with various stretches consisting of long stairways: for its natural conformation is not accessible to people in wheelchairs or with difficulty walking. After evaluation with the representatives of the structure, the visit can offer stimulating experiences for people with cognitive and sensory disabilities.

Full visit
The fortress is located outside the town of Anfo, along State Road 237. The "complete" tour starts from the ticket office in via Calcaterra 6 in the centre of Anfo: the building is barrier-free and has a bathroom equipped for people with disabilities. You then follow the footpath along the lakeside promenade for about 1 km. The first section takes place on a flat path paved in concrete, which can also be used by people in wheelchairs; it offers a beautiful view of the lake and touches a beach, with a gravel ground on a slope. In the second section, the paving of the path becomes earth and gravel, with stretches on a slope and no longer viable for people in wheelchairs. At the end of the path you reach State Road 237 and access to the fortified complex of the fortress.

Short visit
The "short" tour begins directly from the fortified complex, at the Museo della Rocca. On the road, in front of the entrance to the area, there is a small wooden building that serves as a ticket office and infopoint.

The Fortress
Both the complete and the short tour focus on visiting the fortress, which is a large fortified military complex, built in the fifteenth century by the Republic of Venice. Subsequently, the fortress was remodeled and enlarged by Napoleon's military engineers and finally by the Italian Military Engineer, before being decommissioned in 1975. Built on the slopes of Monte Censo, on a vast area of 50 hectares overlooking the lake, the Rocca d'Anfo is the largest Napoleonic fortress in Italy.

It is an interesting example of military architecture and from the top of its walls offers beautiful views of the entire lake of Idro. The fortress is composed of several separate buildings, built over the centuries at different points of the slope, connected by long stairways or paths with variable slopes and gravel or grass. Many buildings can be visited internally and often have long, steep staircases.
