Getting there by public transport
The old town of Monza is a ZTL (limited traffic area), with access allowed only to authorized vehicles.
The Cathedral of Monza is located in the pedestrian area and can be reached by buses Z204, Z205, Z206.

Parking
At about 200 meters away, in largo 4 Novembre, there is paid parking and 3 parking spaces reserved for people with permit for citizens with disability.

Information for visitors
No entrance fee for the person with disability and for his companion.
A manual wheelchair is available for visitors.

The visit of the "Cappella di Teodolinda” (Chapel of Teodolinda) and “Corona Ferrea” (Iron Crown) is regulated (guided tours of 25 people at a time, suspended during religious services).

Entrance
The ticket office can be reached from via Lambro 2 surpassing in succession: a step (h 14 cm), one double swing door (280 cm), an automatic sliding door (width 190 cm) and a gently sloping stretch (length 2 meters, gradient 3%).
Alternatively persons with motor disabilities can enter from the main entrance of the cathedral: the church square is bordered by a marble balustrade with thresholds of about 120 cm access; the entrance has a swing door (width 70 cm), a threshold (h 2 cm) and a second swing door (width 127 cm). This leads to the ticket office of the Museum from the left side aisle through two consecutive swing doors (width 106 cm).

Hospitality
In the lobby of the museum there are:

  • the information point (counter h 101 cm)
  • the ticket office (counter h 101cm).
  • the bookshop (counter h 91 cm)

Museum staff offer information and assistance.

Lift
The museum has a lift, located in the sacristy of the cathedral and reached by the following path: from the ticket office, pass two consecutive swing doors (width 106 cm), which lead to the left aisle of the cathedral; then past a swinging gate (width 108 cm) which leads into the sacristy. Next, pass a double swing door (width 60 cm each) and reach the lift. The lift connects all floors of the museum except for the half floor and it has the following features:

  • door width 80 cm, cabin space 114x153 cm
  • internal button panel in Braille and raised (h 107 cm)
  • emergency alarm bell (h 115 cm).

Exhibition layout
The exhibition of the Museum and Treasury of Monza Cathedral is spread over 3 floors (half floor, -1, -2), with showcases and display cabinets placed at different heights (h 43 cm, h 90 cm), which hold works and sacred objects.
Floors -1 and -2 can be reached from the sacristy of the cathedral via the lift.
From the ticket office of the museum, passing a swing door (width 86 cm), a step (h 4 cm), 16 consecutive steps (h 16 cm) and an automatic sliding door (width 120 cm) it is possible to reach the half floor of the museum; from here it is possible to reach a further exhibition wing climbing 16 steps (h 15 cm).
The spaces in the rooms are generally large and usable, with seats (h 45 cm) placed along the path.
The Cappella di Teodolinda can be reached via 3 consecutive steps (h 16 cm) and a double swing door (width 96 cm each). Here it is possible to admire highly interesting frescoes, a masterpiece of Gothic art, which are spread over an area of about 500 square meters, telling the story of Queen Teodolinda. The chapel also houses the precious Corona Ferrea, which was used from the Middle Ages until the nineteenth century for the coronation of the King of Italy.

Direction signs
Along the various paths there are directional arrows written in large letters (at least 7 cm) and clearly visible.

Restrooms
The toilet accessible to persons with disabilities is situated on floor -2, and has the following features:

  • anteroom with swing door (width 76 cm)
  • toilet with swing door (width 80 cm)
  • wall-mounted wash basin (front space 138 cm)
  • floor mounted toilet(front space 105 cm, right side 128 cm, left side 32 cm, horizontal grab bar on the right side, vertical grab bar on right side)
  • Symbols of the toilets well contrasted, at eye level, medium to large size.

Emergency exits
Emergency exits are indicated. An acoustic and visual alarm system is installed.
