Parking
Parking is available on the blue lines in viale del Monumento, where there are 2 parking spaces reserved for people with permit for citizens with disability (about 30 meters from the entrance). Around 300 meters away, there is a large paid car park.

Entrance
The Museum of the Certosa of Pavia is located in the halls of the Palazzo Ducale (Ducal Palace), summer residence of Visconti and Sforza, located on the right side of the Courtyard of the Certosa of Pavia.
Visitors enter the complex of the Certosa di Pavia by passing two consecutive gates (the first 400 cm, the second 392 cm). After about 10 meters, through a swing gate (width 108 cm), they reach the inside courtyard of the Certosa.
Tourists reach the museum by going along the right side of the courtyard for about 20 meters (compact gravel surface with 99 cm cobbled paths) and overcoming a double door (145 cm each) and a double hinged door (65 cm each).

Hospitality
In the lobby there is the information point (counter h 80 cm). Brochures are available (in Italian and English).
Museum operators offer information and assistance.

Lift
The lift connects the ground floor to the first floor and has the following features:

  • door width 85 cm, cabin interior space 150 x 138 cm
  • internal control panel in Braille and embossed (h 115 cm)
  • visual and acoustic signal on arrival at the floor
  • emergency alarm bell (h 120 cm).

Exhibition layout
The Certosa Museum is situated on the ground floor and on the first floor of the Ducal Palace. On the ground floor is the plaster cast gallery, a collection of about two hundred plaster casts of works that adorn the facade and the cloisters. In the middle of the exhibition path, passing a swing door (width 110 cm) and 38 steps (h 17 cm), visitors reach the first floor. Alternatively, they can use the lift. The 9 rooms on the first floor host the picture gallery, featuring works from the Lombard Renaissance. The museum has information panels (h 160 cm from the ground) in Italian, English, German and French.

Signage guidance
Along the various paths there are directional arrows with writing in large letters (at least 7 cm) and are clearly visible.

Restrooms
The toilet equipped for persons with disabilities is on the left side of the ducal court in front of the church and is reached via a path with a compact gravel surface. Visitors can reach the toilet by passing a first step (h 7 cm) leading to a path, a second step (h 4 cm) and a swing door (width 90 cm).
The toilet has the following features:

  • anteroom with swing door width 87 cm
  • bathroom with swing door width 87 cm
  • wall mounted washbasin (front space 140 cm)
  • floor mounted WC (front space 123 cm, right side 43 cm, left side 178 cm, horizontal handle on left side)
  • bathroom signs are clearly visible, at eye level and medium-large size.

Emergency exits
Emergency exits are indicated. An acoustic and visual alarm system is installed.
