Exhibition itinerary
The Mu.Vi.S, inaugurated in July 2007 in an historic building of the sixteenth century, witnesses the civilization of the Valley and the historical and commercial importance that the Via Spluga has had over the centuries.

The exhibition path develops on various levels connected exclusively by steps.

On the ground floor there are, together with sacred vestments and furnishings, panels that illustrate the history and culture of the valley (117 cm high above the floor).

Four steps (16 cm high each), a hinged door (83 cm wide) and a step (10 cm high) lead into the ancient "tabernae " (level -1) where there are sections dedicated to traditional crafts (quarry workers, carpenters, distillers) reachable by passing two more steps (16 cm high each) and a hinged door (90 cm wide).

At level 1, connected to the ground floor by 10 consecutive steps (14 cm high), there are: a hall (passageway 80 cm wide) for temporary exhibitions, sections dedicated to winter sports, hiking and to the Spluga road, with the reproductions of the projects by engineer Carlo Donegani (117 cm high above the floor).

Passing 7 consecutive steps (16 cm high each) you reach the second level with a room dedicated to spinning and embroidery, the "stüa zóra" of the Eighteenth century and the section that illustrates the historical evolution of the building.

Eight steps (16 cm high each) lead to the third level where you can admire the sections dedicated to children and women (toys, clothes, linen, embroidery) and the reconstruction of a typical “stüa” of the past. Always on the third floor, passing a hinged door (69 cm wide) and a step (3 cm high), you reach the assembly hall with 60 seats (seat height: 46 cm).
Eight steps (17 cm high each) lead to the fourth level where there is the section dedicated to the archaeological discoveries of Pian dei Cavalli, confirming the presence of the prehistoric man in the Central Alps. Some glass cases (115 cm and 123 cm high above the floor) show minerals and dioramas with specimens of local fauna.

The educational workshop, located on this level, can be reached via a hinged door (91 cm wide) and has rectangular four-legged tables (clear space below: 75 cm) and benches (seat height: 48 cm).
Passing a series of steps, you reach the other levels of the museum that host wildlife specimen collections and historical artefacts.
