Parking
The Duomo di Pavia is situated in a pedestrian area; the entire city center is subject to restrictions on transit and parking of vehicles.

Entrance
The square outside the cathedral has cobblestone pavement with paved paths.
The main entrance from piazza Duomo has 10 consecutive steps (h 15 cm) and two consecutive double swing doors (the first 110 cm each, the second 98 cm each).
Visitors with motor disabilities can enter the basilica from via Omodeo which leads to the aisle on the side of the altar of Santa Lucia (St. Lucia); the side entrance has a threshold (2,5 cm), two consecutive double swing doors (the first 74 cm each, the second 90 cm each) and an inclined ramp (150 cm, gradient 6%).

Reception
Several signs with a "QR code" have been installed in the cathedral: framing them with a smartphone can open a tab with cultural and historical information for the point of the Cathedral where people are sited. Via the website of the cathedral it is also possible to take a virtual tour.

Interior spaces
The Duomo is the most important church of Pavia. Its octagonal dome is among the largest in Italy for height and width.
The nave and side aisles present are free of obstacles, the church has benches with pews and chairs (seat h 46 cm).
On the right side aisle there are:

  • the chapels of the Madonna di Lourdes (Our Lady of Lourdes), of the Santa Madonna del Rosario (the Holy Virgin of the Rosary) and of Sant’Alessandro (St. Alexander); visitors have to pass a step (h 18 cm) to gain access to them;
  • the Chapels of San Giovanni Battista (St. John the Baptist) and of the Sacro Cuore (Sacred Heart) have one step h 24 cm.

On the left side aisle there are:

  • the chapels of Sant’Agnese (St. Agnes) and of the Immacolata (Mary Immaculate) which have one step h 24 cm;
  • the chapel of Beata Vergine del Caravaggio (Our Lady of Caravaggio) has one step (h 26 cm).

The apse leads to the chapel of San Siro where it is necessary to climb 6 consecutive steps (h 13 cm) and an opening of 40 cm.
Below the presbytery there is the crypt, which can only be reached via a staircase of 28 steps in total (h 17 cm) and double swing doors (82 cm each).

Restrooms
The two toilets, located at the end of the left aisle, can be reached via a ramp (120 cm, slope 5%) and a double swing door (62 cm each) and have the following features:

  • anteroom with a step (h 16 cm) and swing door 68 cm
  • wall mounted washbasin (123 cm front space)
  • toilet with swing door 70 cm
  • floor mounted WC (front space 30 cm, 45 cm right side, 28 cm left side)
