The church is located in the old town of Laveno, about 400 meters from the pier and the Laveno-Mombello Nord train station. The last 100 meters are on a sloping road without a protected sidewalk.
Parking area
On the right side of the church there is a small paid parking area, with a slightly sloping cobblestone paving, sometimes bumpy. To reach the entrance of the church, you walk 10 meters of asphalted road, without a protected sidewalk; then you pass a threshold (5 cm high) and one meter of square paved in cobblestone.
Entrance
The entrance presents in succession: 5 steps (10 cm high); a two leaf door (total width: 150 cm), another two leaf door (80 cm wide each) and a hinged door (65 cm wide).
Getting around
The building, called "Chiesa Vecchia", stands on the remains of a chapel built in the early 1300s. The central nave dates back to 1600, while the side aisle and the facade date back to the 19th century. Worthy of note is the bell tower in Lombard Romanesque style. On both sides of the portal stand the statues of the patron saints and inside there is a seventeenth-century wooden statue representing the "Madonna del Transito".
The building has a central nave and a left aisle, which can be visited without obstacles; it has benches with kneelers (seat height: 45 cm). On both the right and left side there are chapels, all preceded by a step (15 cm high). To access the altar, you need to overcome 4 steps (15 cm high each).
