Exhibition Path
The Castle and its Darsena, still in perfect condition, represent a rare case of fortification intended for port use. The first part of the Castle, built on the remains of a Roman fortification, the Mastio, the main rectangular courtyard, the three corner towers, and the two entrances with drawbridges were built at the end of the 13th century. A century later, the Darsena and the enclosure of the village were built.
After passing the ticket office, you enter the main rectangular courtyard, surrounded by high walls and corner towers paved with cobblestones, at times uneven. From here, you can reach 2 secondary courtyards: to access each of them, you must pass 3 steps (height 15 cm).
Through a staircase of 80 steps with handrails on both sides, it is possible to climb onto the city walls and walk around the perimeter. Through a second staircase of 80 steps with handrails on both sides, you reach the panoramic tower.
From the courtyards, through a staircase of 25 steps with a handrail on the left, it is possible to climb onto the secondary walls and walk around the perimeter.
Restrooms
The restrooms located in the main courtyard are not accessible to people with motor disabilities. It is possible to ask the ticket office staff to use a service lift, which allows access to an area not open to the public on the first floor.
