Getting around
The Basilica of San Lorenzo was built by Bernardino da Novara between 1375 and 1380 and it is an example of Lombard Gothic style. The Basilica is full of works of art and valuable paintings from 1500; some of them are original works while others are reproductions of paintings whose originals are in other museums.

The church is an example of Latin cross form with three naves; the central nave and the side aisles can be visited without barriers; to access the altar it is necessary to overcome 3 steps (15 cm each).
The church is furnished with benches (55 cm height).
On the side aisles there are four chapels (two on each side) that can be visited by overcoming a step (h 15 cm).  On the right side, there are the "Cappella Ambrosiana" and the "Cappella del Rosario". In the "Cappella del Rosario" you can admire a fresco of the "Madonna con Bambino" of the 15th century and the "Madonna col Rosario" by Bernardino Lanino (1578).

On the left aisle there are the “Cappella di San Vincenzo” and “Cappella dello Spirito Santo”; in the “Cappella dello Spirito Santo” there is a wooden nativity scene with 80 low-relief figures by Lorenzo da Mortara (15th century).
