Getting there by public transport

Parking place
In Piazza Garibaldi there are 7 toll parking spaces and one is reserved for disabled pass holders; to reach the entrance of the museum you pass the step of the sidewalk or, alternatively, you can use the ramp of the driveway placed at 20 meters and then you walk about 70 meters of paved sidewalk with uneven sections.
Alternatively, in via Paglia, there are 35 parking spaces, one of which is reserved for disabled pass holders; to reach the main entrance of the museum you walk about 100 meters paved sidewalk with uneven sections, passing a pedestrian crossing with a sidewalk without ramp.
Information for visitors
Reduced ticket for visitors with disabilities and their carer. A brochure with a map of the museum illustrating the main works is available. In each room there are information panels about the exhibited works.
By contacting the Academy in advance, it is possible to arrange guided tours or educational activities specifically aimed at people with disabilities.
Entrance
You pass a gate (3 meters wide) and you enter the portico of the Academy, with paved floor.
On the right side, there is the main entrance of the museum which presents in succession: 3 steps, another 3 steps, a flight of 30 steps.
People with reduced mobility can access from the entrance on the left, and, in sequence, they find: a section of 1 meter in cobblestones, 15 meters in compact paving and then they reach the elevator leading to floors 1 and 2, where the art gallery is.
Reception
Under the portico there is the infopoint /ticket office. The museum staff is at your disposal for information and tourist reception services.
Lift
The lift connects the ground floor with the other floors where the exhibition is developed and has the following characteristics:
- door width: 80 cm; space inside cabin: 118x115 cm
- Elevator level buttons panel with embossed Braille printing
- visual and acoustic signal of arrival at the floor
- emergency bell.
Exhibition itinerary
The Gallery exhibits a large and remarkable collection of Italian paintings from the fourteenth to the seventeenth century, a pictorial section dedicated to modern and contemporary art and a fine collection of Italian and European porcelain.
The exhibition path develops on the first and second floor. The rooms can be visited without obstacles.
At the centre of the Academy courtyard there is the Chapel with the "Stele Tadini", a precious marble high relief by Antonio Canova. Next to the work, there is a plaster copy available for tactile exploration by people with visual impairment.
The Chapel can be accessed from the entrance gate of the Academy, passing in sequence: 10-meter paved floor; 15-meter paved floor with pebbles that is sometimes uneven; 2 steps (11 cm and 15 cm high), a double leaf door (60 cm wide each).
Toilet facilities
The toilet equipped for people with disabilities is located on the second floor of the Tadini Gallery and has the following characteristics:
- vestibule with sliding door (88 cm wide)
- wall-mounted washbasin (clear space in front: 110 cm)
- bathroom with sliding door (87 cm wide)
- floor-standing toilet (height 49 cm; clear space: in front: 110 cm, on the right side 32 cm; on the left side: 110 cm; handle on the right side).
Educational activities and temporary exhibitions
On the back of the Academy there is a wing dedicated to temporary exhibitions and educational activities, with accessible toilets for people with disabilities.
On the ground floor, there is a room dedicated to educational activities that overlooks the courtyard of the Academy. The space in front is paved in gravel. The room can be accessed from the courtyard passing two steps (5 cm and 2 cm high) and a double leaf door (50 cm wide each).
To reach the temporary exhibition hall (Tadini's Atelier), people with motor disabilities can ask the staff to access by car a space used for loading / unloading disabled visitors. After a threshold (2 cm high) and a swing door (total width: 2 meters) a wide elevator takes you to the exhibition hall that can be visited without obstacles.
