Parking
Parking is permitted on the blue lines on viale Vittorio Veneto, 250 m from the museum. There are also 3 parking spaces reserved for people with permits for citizens with disability: in front of the Monument of the Fallen (200 m from the museum); in front of the Società Canottieri Lario (Lario Rowing Club) (200 m) and in front of the municipal stadium "G. Sinigaglia" (350 m).

Information for visitors
Free fees for the visitor with disability and his companion.

Entrance
The main entrance has 15 steps (h 14 cm) and a double swing door (width 69 cm each). Alternatively, persons with motor disabilities can use an accessible entrance (not indicated): it can be reached from the main entrance along a stretch of about 5 meters, past a sloping ramp (length 2 meters and 6% gradient) followed by a swing door (width 99 cm).

Reception
In the lobby there are:

  • the information point (counter h 90 cm)
  • the ticket office (counter h 90 cm).

Museum professionals are able to give information and hospitality.

Lift
The building has a lift to all floors with the following features:

  • door 85 cm, cabin space 141 x 94 cm
  • internal button panel in Braille and raised (h 116 cm)
  • emergency alarm bell (h 108 cm).

Exhibition layout
The exhibition is dedicated to the inventor Alessandro Volta's pile and spread over 2 floors and inside of which is exposed to a vast array of equipment, machines and tools which take into account the activity of the great physicist. The halls can be visited without obstacles.
On the ground floor, there are two interactive stations (h 102 cm) that transmit video and movies on Alessandro Volta and his inventions (with audio commentary in Italian and English subtitles).

Direction signs
Along the various paths there are directional arrows written in large letters (at least 7 cm) and well contrasted.

Restrooms
The toilet equipped for persons with disabilities is located on the ground floor opposite the lift and has the following features:

  • toilet with swing door 97 cm
  • wall-mounted washbasin (172 cm front space)
  • floor mounted WC (120 cm front space, right side 38 cm and left side 100cm, horizontal grab bar on the left side and a handrail on the right side).

Emergency exits
Emergency exits are indicated. An acoustic alarm system is installed.
