Getting there by public transport   
The museum is located about 600 m from the railway station and is served by the trains connecting Chiavenna to Colico.

Parking area:
It is possible to park in the large parking lot in front of the museum.

Entrance:
The Museo Archeologico di Valchiavenna is located in the former Crotto Caurga. The museum can be accessed via a double leaf manual gate (160 cm wide each) and by following a path of about 50 meters (slope of 5%, 150 cm wide) with a solid dry laid flagstone.
The entrance has a double leaf door (76 cm wide each).

Reception:
In the entrance hall there are:

  • the infopoint (counter: 76 cm height)
  • the ticket office (counter: 76 cm height)

Museum operators offer information and tourist reception services.


Lift:
The elevator connecting the two floors of the building has the following characteristics:

  • door: 90 cm wide; 
  • elevator cabin: inner space 149x149 cm
  • elevator internal panel marked in Braille (122 cm height from the floor)
  • visual signal of arrival at the floor
  • emergency bell (132 cm height from the floor).

Exhibition itinerary:  
The exhibition develops on the ground floor and on the first floor.
The ground floor generally hosts temporary exhibitions. The two rooms on the first floor display archaeological finds from Valchiavenna. A monitor in the second room plays videos about the "museum system of Valchiavenna": museums, monuments, permanent exhibitions and the archaeological and botanical parks owned by the Mountain Community.
In the rooms there are large drawings reproducing the settings where the ancient  people living in Chiavenna used to spend their days.
Along the walls of the exhibition path there are informative and descriptive panels (105 cm height from the floor).

Orientation signage:
In the building there are directional arrows with high contrast and large lettering (at least 7 cm).

Toilet facilities:
The disabled toilet is located on the ground floor behind the ticket office and has the following features:

  • vestibule with single leaf door (90 cm wide)
  • wall-mounted washbasin (clear space in front: 130 cm)
  • bathroom with sliding door (90 cm wide)
  • wall-mounted washbasin (clear space in front: 124 cm)
  • wall-mounted toilet (clear floor area: in front 134 cm, on the right side 23 cm, on the left side 132 cm, horizontal handlebar on left side and handrail on the right side)
  • high contrast symbols indicating toilet facilities, positioned at eye level, using medium to large size letters.

Emergency exits:
Emergency routes are well indicated. The building has an acoustic alarm device.
