Information for visitors
The MUPRE is open all year round, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 2 to 6 pm. Free admission for people with disabilities and their carers. Reservations are recommended for groups.
Entrance
The National Museum of Prehistory is situated in the ancient building of Villa Agostani. The museum can be accessed via a double leaf door (120 cm wide each) that leads to the inner courtyard with a solid paved base in the central part. The entrance has a hinged door (91 cm wide).
Reception
The atrium can be reached by a ramp (slope of 5%, length: 300 cm, handrail on the right side at 92 cm above the ground).
In the entrance hall, there are:
- the Infopoint (counter height: 99 cm)
- the ticket office (counter height: 99 cm)
- The museum staff is at your disposal for information and tourist reception services.
Lift
The lift, connecting the two floors of the building, has the following characteristics:
- door width 85 cm;
- internal cabin space; 134x94 cm
- elevator level buttons embossed panel (127 cm high above the floor)
- emergency bell (110 cm high above the floor).
Exhibition itinerary
The exhibition itinerary develops on two floors (ground floor and second floor). Outside there is a tensile structure that can be reached through a hinged door (90 cm wide) and 10 consecutive steps (16 cm high each) that can be overcome with a ramp (slope of 4%, 30 m long). In this area you can admire steles and menhirs from megalithic sanctuaries of the Copper Age.
The three rooms on the ground floor, connected by a passageway (99 cm wide), host archaeological finds dating back to the Copper Age.
In the second room there is a touchscreen monitor (100 cm high above the floor). Along the walls there are informative and descriptive panels (105 cm high above the floor).
The tour continues on the second floor which can be accessed by passing through a hinged door (96 cm wide). The display cases (96 cm high above the floor) contain findings dating back to the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic periods. The room has 3 touchscreen monitors (116 cm high above the floor) and an interactive multimedia table (82 cm high above the floor).
Along the walls of the room there are informative and descriptive panels (100 cm high above the floor). On the first floor of the MUPRE there is a library and a conference room which can be accessed via a hinged door (100 cm wide); the room has 50 seats (seat height: 46 cm).
Orientation signage
In the building there are directional arrows with high contrast and large lettering (at least 7 cm).
Toilet facilities
The disabled toilet is on the second floor and has the following characteristics:
- vestibule with hinged door (80 cm wide)
- wall-mounted washbasin (clear space in front: 130 cm) and changing table (95 cm high above the floor)
- toilet with hinged door (80 cm wide)
- wall-mounted washbasin (clear space in front: 220 cm)
- floor-standing toilet (clear space: in front 200 cm; on the right side 85 cm; on the left side 25 cm; horizontal handlebar on the right side, vertical handlebar and handrail on the left side)
- high contrast symbols indicating toilet facilities, positioned at eye level, using medium to large size letters.
Emergency Exits
Emergency routes are well indicated. The building has an acoustic alarm device.
