Parking
Cars are not allowed to transit in Piazza Duomo. It is possible to park in a underground garage in Piazza Diaz or on the blue lines in the adjacent streets; in Via Pecorari, in piazza Diaz, in Largo Idefonso Schuster and in Piazza Fontana there are some parking spaces reserved for people with permits for citizens with disability.

Entrance
The entrance from the cathedral square has a series of 5 steps, that can be overcome by 2 lateral ramps (length about 20 meters, slope 8%). The main entrance is a large swing door (238 cm).
Information for visitors
Free of charge for people with disability and for their companion. People with disability that wants to visit the early Christian Baptistery and the Terraces can contact the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo (phone n. +39 02 72022656 e-mail info@duomomilano.it). The cathedral personnel should be contacted upon entering the Duomo. People with disability and their companion can use freely audio guides and radio guides. The audio guide has a keyboard in Braille. Thanks to the association “Ad Artem” deaf people can ask for a deaf signer guide (no LIS interpreters). By partnering with “Arte Insieme” blind people and visually impaired can book a visit to make a tactile discover of a selection of works from the collection.
Reception
Ticket office 1, sited in Piazza del Duomo outside the Cathedral in front of palazzo Reale, has a counter (h 123 cm). “Veneranda” professionals are able to give information and hospitality.
Lift
The external lift that links to the mezzanine underground has these features: width door 88 cm, cabin 165x147 cm.
The South lift has these features: width door 77 cm, cabin 106x130 cm.
The North lift has these features: width door 65 cm, cabin 111x137 cm.
Exhibition itinerary
The side naves and the central are unobstructed, while to reach the basement floor, containing the Treasure Room and the Crypt of San Carlo Borromeo, there are 24 steps (handrail on both sides). A turnstile and 27 steps in the basement floor lead to the Early Christian Baptistery. The circular route is around 150 meters in length, poorly lit, with uneven floor surface, a number of steps and passageways the narrowest of which is 63 cm wide. Persons with motor impairment may reach the Early Christian Baptistery using the lift sited in Piazza Duomo, corner Via Silvio Pellico, that leads to the mezzanine floor of the M1 underground station. After the Atm Point it is possible to reach the turnstiles. The entrance to the Baptistery has a video entry phone (h 115 cm from the ground), it is possible to get to the baptistery overcoming 4 inclined ramps (length 7 meters, width 71 cm, maximum slope 12%). People on a wheelchair can visit the Cathedral Terraces only on Saturday and on Sunday and they can reach only the first terrace (limited to the retrochoir area) accompanied by the personnel by the North lift (or the South lift in case of failure). The passage to reach the Terraces from the cabin lift is 78 cm width from the South side and 68 cm width from the North side. The walkways have small spaces and they allow the passage of one person at a time.
From the Terraces, 81 steps (alternating handrails on the right and on the left) lead to the cathedral roof, characterized by 135 spiers and more than 1800 statues.
The roof has a sloping cross path (except for the first meters equipped with a catwalk of 130 cm flat) that, overcoming 19 steps, leads to the Terrazza della Madonnina.
Signage guidance
In the cathedral there are directional arrows written in large letters (at least 7 cm) and well contrasted.
Restrooms
The restroom, sited in the sacristy, it is of reduced size and has these features:
- dressing (door 51 cm) and washbasin,
- bathroom (door 53 cm),
- WC (frontal space 62 cm).
The equipped toilet is placed in the outer structure where the ticket office 1 is sited. A small inclined ramp (slope 7%), a swing door (87 cm) and an inclined ramp (length 190 cm and slope 8%) lead to the equipped toilet that has these features:
- bathroom (door 93 cm)
- suspended washbasin (frontal space 130 cm)
- WC on the ground (frontal space 100 cm, right side 23 cm, left side 120 cm and handrail along the perimeter),
- symbols of the toilets well contrasted, at eye level, medium to large size.
