Parking
It is sited in a pedestrian area, it is possible to park on the blue lines on Via San Vito. There is a parking space reserved for people with permits for citizens with disabilities on Piazza Vetra. For information about road access and parking in Milan
Entrance
The entrance has 4 steps, which can be avoided by using the ramp with handrail (to the left of the large square in front of the church), a 4 cm step at the entrance and a swing door with two panels, each 93 cm wide. In order to avoid the entrance step, it is possible to contact the parish secretary (phone no. 02 89404129) and it will be provided a removable ramp.
Accessibility for people with sensory disabilities
Inside the church it is present an informative panel (h 85 cm from the ground) with a short text in Italian, in English and in Braille, too. It is possible to orienteer inside the building thanks to a raised plan in the central part of the panel. A depiction of the overview of the façade integrates visual and tactile contents. A Frame QR Code or a NFC for smartphone allow to establish peer-to-peer radio communications: audio suitable for people with visual impairment and video with subtitles and translation of the texts in Lis (Italian Sign Language) suitable for people with acoustic impairment. It describes, after a short introduction about the building history, its structure, some artworks and its façade.
Interior spaces
The basilica was built in the Roman age (between the late fourth and early fifth centuries) and it was remodeled several times over the centuries until it reached its present appearance; it was the greatest building with a central plan in the Western World. The nave and aisles do not present obstacles, while in order to enter in the Cittadino’s Chapel and in the St. Ippolito’s Chapel it is necessary to exceed one step. It is possible to admire the mosaics of St. Aquilino’s Chapel (free admittance for people with disability), while to visit the crypt and the foundations located inside the chapel it is necessary to exceed 3 steps in front of the altar and a staircase of 16 steps.
