Academia Residence is located near the Venetian Walls of the Upper City, 550 m from Porta Sant’Agostino where the Bergamo-Brescia cycle path begins. It is accessible via an uphill road with cobblestone pavement and variable width paved sides ranging from 50 to 100 cm. At Porta Sant’Agostino, beyond the walls and continuing uphill (initially asphalt, then cobblestones), you reach the Upper City.

How to get there by public transport
Nearby are stops of the Bergamo Transport Company. The ATB website has a section dedicated to people with disabilities and reduced mobility.

Parking
There is a parking spot reserved for people with CUDE disabled passes located 20 meters from the structure. Two other reserved parking spots are nearby (in front of Civic Number 90). Free parking spaces are available on Viale Giulio Cesare.

Entrance
The entrance features a sloped ramp (short and steep). In case assistance is needed to overcome it, the staff is available.
The doorbell is positioned at 145 cm from the ground. Access to the structure is through a double swinging door (width 82 cm and 50 cm).

Welcome and useful services
The reception is located on the right side, reachable by overcoming some steps.
A sloped ramp with a 7% gradient (length 722 cm) provides access to:

  • the breakfast/conference room
  • the elevator
  • the outdoor area, equipped with chairs and tables with a clearance space of 70 cm

The staff is trained to accommodate the needs of guests with motor, visual, auditory disabilities, and celiac disease. (Translation service in LIS is available upon request).

Orientation Signage
Only room numbers are present on the doors.

Elevator
The elevator connecting all floors (ground, first, second, and third) features:

  • sliding doors (80 cm)
  • cabin interior 85 cm X 120 cm
  • control panel with Braille and raised numbers at a minimum height of 130 cm
  • visual and acoustic arrival indicator on each floor
  • alarm button (height 130 cm) and intercom (height 155 cm)
  • Presence of a mirror (floor/ceiling) with handrail (height 0.95 cm)

Common Restrooms
The common restroom equipped for people with disabilities is located on the ground floor, in front of the breakfast room, and features:

  • anteroom with sliding door (88 cm)
  • restroom with sliding door (88 cm)
  • wall-mounted sink (height 85 cm, front clearance 110 cm)
  • floor-level toilet (height 50 cm, front clearance 80 cm, right side clearance 26 cm, left side clearance 177 cm), handheld shower, handrail on the left
  • mirror (height 80 cm)
  • ample maneuvering space

Rooms accessible to people with disabilities
The structure has 2 rooms (no. 1 on the first floor and no. 7 on the second floor) accessible to people with reduced mobility with the following characteristics:

  • entrance with swinging door (87 cm)
  • 2 beds and a third place on a sofa bed
  • bed (height 58 cm, front clearance 141 cm, right side clearance 112 cm, left side clearance 132 cm)
  • wardrobe (with clothes hanger height 124 cm)

Bathroom:

  • sliding door (77 cm)
  • wall-mounted sink (height 89 cm)
  • floor-level toilet (height 44 cm, front clearance 155 cm, right side clearance 22 cm, left side clearance 23 cm), handheld shower (on request)
  • shower with cabin (swinging door width 72 cm, tray height 2 cm)
  • sufficient maneuvering space

Breakfast Room
The breakfast/conference room is located on the ground floor and features:

  • swinging door (82 cm)
  • table service or buffet
  • round tables (clearance space underneath 82 cm)
  • buffet (height 85 cm)
  • presence of gluten-free packaged foods

Safety within the structure is ensured through:
